The papers are primarily letters written to Barker by Sir George and William Macleay, John Dow and William Dumaresq. A number of legal and commercial documents are included.
Diary includes two travel accounts: an 1818 account of Barker's travels across New York State, and an 1820 account of a trip west. In the 1818 account, Barker comments on the landscape, a number of towns and villages in New York, and Auburn State Prison. The diary also contains financial records including income and expenses related to shoemaking.
