The Engelhorn Family
The earliest known member of this family, Marx (Markus) Engelhorn (1580-1650), was born in Hockenheim, Baden, Germany. The common ancestor of all the Engelhorns who came to Allamakee Co., Iowa between 1847 and 1866 was, Johann Marcus Engelhorn II (1782-1869), who was Bürger, farmer and magistrate in Altlussheim, Germany. He stayed in Germany. His oldest son, Johann Thomas III, also stayed in Germany, but eight of his nine surviving children immigrated to America as well as four Johann Thomas's siblings. Family members and descendants live in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, California, Oregon and elsewhere.
Remote Sensing by Satellite Gravimetry
Over the last two decades, satellite gravimetry has become a new remote sensing technique that provides a detailed global picture of the physical structure of the Earth. With the CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE and GRACE Follow-On missions, mass distribution and mass transport in the Earth system can be systematically observed and monitored from space. New Therapies and Immunological Findings in Melanoma and Other Skin Cancers
New therapies are currently being developed in the field of skin cancer. In particular, advances in melanoma now represent the frontline of cancer immunotherapy, as immunological findings in the disease have led to the development of highly effective immune-checkpoint inhibitors. However, these immune-checkpoint inhibitors are only effective in a subset of patients, and may not work in other skin cancer types, thus highlighting the need for further innovation in the field of skin cancer treatment. The purpose of this Research Topic is therefore to provide an up-to-date overview of immune processes and new therapies for melanoma and other skin cancers in order to further stimulate the development of new and even more successful treatments.
