International educators can take the high road towards rigorous investment in the ideals of true cultural exchange or continue down the low road to customer satisfaction and design programs that reduce or eliminate challenges. International education structured according to the latter principle is little more than just another product in the global marketplace. In spite of the process of "globalization" and partly because of it, international education faces a major crisis. This volume, with contributors from Austria, Chile, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United States, sets forth a timely and provocative critique of international education and assesses its future under radically different conditions than those in place twenty years ago. Walter Grnzweig is professor of American literature and culture at Universitt Dortmund. He holds adjunct professorships at the University of Pennsylvania, University of New York at Binghamton and Canisius College. Nana Rinehart is associate director of the International Student Exchange Program.

In turn, the book explores peculiarities in specific areas of Industry 4.0 (Internet of Production, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, electromobility, autonomous driving, traffic, medical science, construction, energy industry, etc.). The book’s closing section addresses general developments in management, the digital transformation of companies and the world of work, and ethical questions.
Recent advances in auditory neuroscience are characterized by a close interaction between neurophysiological findings, psychophysical effects and integrative models that attempt to bridge the gap between neuroscience and psychophysics. This volume introduces the latest developments in this quickly evolving interdisciplinary area. Tutorials by leading international scientists as well as more focused contributions by active researchers providing an invaluable summary of our current knowledge of psychophysics and auditory physiology and the main lines of research in this field. The book will be of interest to anyone involved in hearing research, including neuroscientists, behavioral scientists, acousticians and biophysicists.
This edited volume elucidates how artificial intelligence (AI) can enable customer service to achieve higher customer engagement, superior user experiences, and increased well-being among customers and employees. Yet, firms face tough challenges in choosing the right tool, optimizing integration, and striking the appropriate balance between AI systems and human efforts. In this context, chapters in this book capture the latest advancements in AI-enabled customer service through real-world examples. This volume offers a global perspective on this contemporary issue, covering topics such as the use of AI in enhancing customer well-being, data and technology integration, and customer engagement.
Stefanie Paluch employs multiple qualitative methods to explore the perception of remote services and its impact on customer-provider relationships in USA, Germany and Sweden. She develops a comprehensive model about customers’ holistic remote service experience and derives theoretical propositions that reflect main influence factors.
Recent advances in psychoacoustics and speech research have an important impact on our understanding of hearing impairment and the concepts of compensating hearing problems with modern hearing instruments. This proceedings of the summer school and symposium give an introduction into the latest developments in this interdisciplinary area. Tutorials of leading international scientists as well as more focused contributions of active researchers provide an excellent overview and a documentation of the “state of the art”. The book is of interest for everybody involved in hearing research, audiology, and audio signal processing.
