With glorious photography and sharp writing, Never Stop Driving presents the case for the mental and social benefits of driving and engaging with automobiles. It also shows you—from dreaming about a car to living with it—how to jump in and get the most from your machine. There’s never been a better time to go for a drive. As a nation, we are chronically overstressed, overworked, and not sleeping enough. Worse yet, our digital devices are taking ever increasing chunks of what remaining free time we do have. Activities that force us to engage with ourselves and the environment around us are needed more than ever. Might I suggest a spin in a four-wheeled escape pod? The car—the act of d...

This book started off as a blog, fortunately it was popular - not one of those boring journals flooding the internet to limited interest audiences. I was 48, redundant, and had applied to be a bus driver. I decided to share my experiences both funny and sad, with you. I called it 'Driving a bus' because it was about driving a bus. There were two routes I could take (pun not intended). One was the gritty, real life exposé and the other, a more causal, relaxed look behind the scenes of the transport industry. I chose the latter, mainly because I wanted to keep my job, but I’ve kept in the good bits. I will take you on a journey through the interview with a manager half my age, an embarrassing medical, and the joys of trying not to crash a 12 ton coach. Later we’ll meet the general public and all that entails. Enjoy five years worth of mayhem. Special thanks go to you the general public, without who this book would be blank pages. Also, Colin Walton and Lloyd Bayley, for their invaluable help and support, and my wife Karen, because I might get my leg over if she likes it. I have changed some names to protect the guilty and to get out of having to pay people money.

Alzheimer's, Life's Darkest Disease

This is a true story written by Bill Brokaw of his seventy-nine-year-old wife, Pat, as she suffers from brain damage. Brain damage that causes her to lose her memory and her ability to knit, sew, crochet, write, and all hand-coordinated activities in which she excelled before dementia. The story takes place over a period of four years and exists because Bill took the time to make a journal of her walk into the clutches of this terrible disease. Early on, doctors called it dementia, but over a year ago, the diagnostic call was Alzheimer's. When Bill first realized that Pat was losing her memory, he contacted a friend, whose husband had lost his life to Alzheimer's. The friend advised Bill to ...
