Este libro aborda, desde el punto de vista del derecho administrativo económico y de la regulación, las tendencias con respecto a la cuestión de la autonomía de los organismos reguladores, mediante la cual se procura mantenerlos a distancia suficiente del poder político de turno. Igualmente, trata la actualidad de las medidas antidumping, compensatorias contra subsidios y de salvaguardia en el ámbito de comercio, cuyas repercusiones son internacionales, aunque su aplicación corresponde al ámbito administrativo; asimismo, se ocupa también de las tendencias en cuanto al procedimiento administrativo sancionador, destacando el tema del debido respeto de los principios y las garantías aplicables, en particular en relación con la defensa de la competencia en los ámbitos nacional y comunitario andino. Este primer anuario es fruto del I Congreso Internacional de Derecho Administrativo Económico y Regulación, organizado por la Universidad ESAN en el mes de julio del 2021. Contiene las contribuciones de académicos y profesionales iberoamericanos, expertos de referencia en cada materia abordada.
Bacterial Pathogens and Their Virulence Factors
Bacterial Pathogens and their Virulence Factors contains a detailed description of 32 major bacterial pathogens that affect human health and their associated virulence determinants. Chapter 1 gives an overview of the different types and classes of general virulence factors involved in host cell adherence and invasion, dissemination within the host, host cell damage, and evasion of host defense systems, as well as mechanisms by which these virulence factors are regulated. Chapters 2 through 33 give concise descriptions of the disease states associated with the 32 bacterial genera and their major pathogenic species, along with an in-depth description of the individual virulence factors that have been found to be functionally involved in pathogenicity. A detailed bibliography derived from primary literature and review articles accompanies each of these chapters, allowing the reader to delve more deeply into individual pathogens and their virulence determinants. Chapter 34 discusses the exciting possibilities and initial successes of using detailed information on a pathogen’s virulence toolkit to design new therapeutics aimed at specific virulence traits.
Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage
From 2nd to 5th October 2012 an International Congress on Science and Technology for the conservation of Cultural Heritage was held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, organized by the Universidade of Santiago de Compostela on behalf of TechnoHeritage Network. Balancing Work and Family in a Changing Society
Both research and policy on balancing work and family life have tended to focus on mothers' lives. There has been a general lack of comparative research to the complex intersection between old and new forms of masculinity; and between fatherhood, work-life balance, gender relations and children's well-being. As a result, men's fathering roles and their struggle with work-life balance have often been neglected. These cultural challenges should be better theorized within family and social policy research. This volume examines how fathers fulfill their roles both within the family and at work and what institutional support could be of most benefit to them in combining these roles.
