Tony Lewis has reached the top of English cricket as a player captaining his country, as a commentator for the BBC, and as an administrator becoming President of the MCC. But even these bare outlines do not do justice to the full range of his career, as a musician, rugby player, head of the Welsh Tourist Board, and much else besides. In this memoir, Tony Lewis takes us through key episodes in his life, showing how chance moments have shaped much that followed. Written in a warm and lyrical style, this is a fascinating account of one man's remarkable life and of the sport he loves so much. He recalls the great characters he has met throughout his career, and gives his vision of a way forward for English cricket.

Earlier... The hunched figure sat on a three legged wooden stool, hooded head leaning over the container. Eyes unblinking, it peered intently into the murky miasma. Hands were raised and sleeves folded carefully back, before fingers were waved over the bowl in intricate patterns. At the same time, whispered ...

Slugg: A Boy's Life in the Age of Mass Incarceration is a blueprint for survival and a demonstration of the power of love, sacrifice, and service. The son of a Kingpin and the prince of a close-knit crime family, Tony Lewis Jr.'s life took a dramatic turn after his father's arrest in 1989. Washington D.C. stood as the murder capital of the country and Lewis was cast into the heart of the struggle, from a life of stability and riches to one of chaos and poverty. How does one make it in America, battling the breakdown of families, the plague of premature death and the hopelessness of being reviled, isolated, and forgotten? Tony Lewis' astonishing journey answers these questions and offers, for the first time, a close look at the familial residue of America's historic program of mass incarceration.

Name cricket’s most famous partnership nowadays and you can forget Hobbs and Sutcliffe, Statham and Trueman or Lillee and Thomson. Instead you have to turn to Duckworth and Lewis, the two statisticians who brought order to the one-day game when rain interfered. These days almost every weather-truncated one-day match throughout the world is decided by the Duckworth Lewis method; this book tells the story behind it; how it came into being and how the two were sometimes pilloried in the media after commentators and correspondents failed to understand the logic behind it.Mathematicians and keen cricket fans, Frank Duckworth, editor of RSS News, the monthly magazine of the Royal Statistical Soci...

Doctor, doctor, I feel like reading a funny book. I'd put this back then. Rude. A psychic message, a slightly portly medium, missing residents, and a strange glow can only mean one thing. Something is happening in Skullenia, and it's down to Ollie and the gang to sort it out. With the help of Deirdre Clownpuncher, the boys try to find out where everyone's gone before they, and maybe the entire town, disappears forever. In an adventure to test the hardiest of souls, our heroes must employ all of the guts and guile at their disposal to follow the clues which, seeing as they don't actually have any guts and guile, means they'll be relying on other people as usual. Join a cast of quite a few with whom you'll visit an interesting library, learn how Noggin hunts, and discover how ladies rate their hats in Intensive Scare, the sixth book in Tony Lewis's Skullenia series.

Inventive text collages made from Calvin and Hobbes comics Los Angeles-based Tony Lewis (born 1986) is part of an exciting generation of artists working to collapse the boundaries between genres and forms. He has quickly established himself in the art world by forming a distinct visual vocabulary that integrates poetry and text with the properties of abstraction. His monochromatic drawings pull from various visual and written sources, ranging from the personal to the political. Separating, rearranging and erasing text, he shifts the way we read to open up new and unexpected meanings. To create Anthology 2014-2016, Lewis deconstructed hundreds of Calvin and Hobbes comic strips, reordered them and shaped them into poems through a process of erasing, editing and rearranging dialogue. Each poem is assembled as a collage of individual drawings that explores the collaborative nature of creativity and authorship, leaving meaning open to a range of interpretations.
