Originally published as Drug and chemical toxicology, v.10, no.1 and 2, 1987. Derived from the Asbestos Toxicity Symposium held April 1985, Miami, Fla. Six contributions on: biological effects, the toxicity of naturally occurring and man-made silicates, a unique lung model employing the bronchial lo
The Cell Nucleus, Volume III focuses mainly on nucleic acids, nuclear proteins, and special aspects of nuclear functions. This volume particularly discusses the organization of bacterial and viral DNA, as well as the nuclear DNA of eukaryotic organisms. It also describes nuclear DNA polymerases, precursors of messenger RNA, ribonucleoproteins, and nuclear high- and low-molecular-weight RNAs. Furthermore, this volume looks into the two broad classes of nuclear proteins: histones and nonhistone proteins. It also presents advances made in the knowledge of mammalian DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, cytochemical detection of nuclear enzymes, and nuclear protein synthesis. Moreover, it elucidates the effects of female steroid hormones on target cell nuclei, describes the nucleus during avian erythropoiesis, and reports the general properties of intranuclear viruses.

Adequate nutrition is crucial for normal child growth and it is important, yet challenging, to define the best nutrition for healthy and active children as well as for those who suffer from acute or chronic disease, considering the varying needs of different age groups. As in past issues, in the present volume of the Nutrition and Growth Yearbook, leading international specialists in nutrition and growth have selected the most interesting studies from peer-reviewed journals published between July 2020 and June 2021, and offer their comments on these manuscripts. This publication provides a significant contribution to the interaction between nutrition and growth as a major issue for growing children, their parents, and the medical teams taking care of them throughout the neonatal period, infancy, childhood, and adolescence.
complex variety of factors affect linear growth, weight gain, and body composition, with nutrition being one of the most important contributors. However, the mechanisms through which nutrition affects growth is not completely understood. This publication focuses on the interplay between nutrients and the endocrine system via manuscripts describing different clinical conditions and diagnoses covering various aspects of nutrition and growth.

The efficacy of immunotherapeutic approaches in the treatment of different cancer types is becoming increasingly obvious, and immunotherapies in cancer treatment have experienced a significant breakthrough in the last few years. Immunotherapy encompasses several diverse treatment approaches, each of which has a distinct mechanism of action, and all of which are designed to boost or restore immune function in some manner. Consequently, T cell activating immunotherapeutic approaches like immune checkpoint inhibition, chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CARs), or bi-specific T cell activating antibodies are becoming increasingly important treatment strategies in different solid tumor types as we...
