Francis Norwood (ca. 1635-1709) was born in Gloucester, England and came to America about 1663. He settled in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts and married Elizabeth Coldam. Descendants and relatives lived in Massachusetts, Maine, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere. Includes ancestors in England to 1535.
Isaac Ritchie was a son of Philip Rutschly, who came to Philadelphia from Switzerland in 1727 on the ship William and Sarah. Isacc, born in Pennsylvania in 1735, married Maria Catharena Wolfe, then moved to Brocks Gap, Rockingham County, Virginia in 1803-1804, where he farmed until his death in 1824. His children married into the Baker, Fulk, Turner, Fawley, Shoemaker, Hulvey, Smith, and Miller families, who were also some of the first settlers in Brocks Gap. Ritchie descendants are found throughout the United States.
John Fawley (1720-1803) lived in Lovettsville, Virginia. His grandson, Jacob Fawley (1802-1880) married Sarah Minnick and later Margaret Jane Smith. Descendants lived in Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and elsewhere.
Ludwig Treiber (Lewis Driver) arrived in America in 1749 from Holland. He changed his name to Driver because that is the meaning of Treiber. He settled in Pennsylvania where he married Barbara Sprenkle and they had eight children. Information on their descendants is included in this volume. Present descendants live in Virginia, California, and elsewhere.

Earliest ancestors are Adam (1645-1723) and Anna Maria Röder (1644- 1723) and Johann (Hans) Adam (1667/69-1721) and Katharina (Tauber) Röder (1670-1751) from Switzerland. Katharina Röder immigrated to Pennsylvania in abt. 1725. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Virginia and elsewhere.

David Holsinger emigrated from Germany to America, accompanied by his son, Michael, and settled in Rockingham, formerly Augusta, County, Virginia. No record has been found of David's date or place of arrival in the United States or when he settled in Virginia. Michael, who was a farmer and basket maker, married Barbara, by whom he had eight children. Michael died in August 1819 and is buried in the family plot on Holsinger farm. Several generations of Holsingers have lived on the land acquired by David and Michael in the 1760's.
Johannes Garber Sr. (ca. 1732-1787) married Barbara Miller, daughter of Michael Miller and Susanna Agness Berchtol, ca. 1752. They lived in York County, Pennsylvania and then moved to Frederick County, Maryland in 1768. In 1775 they moved to Flat Rock, Virginia. Early descendants lived in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and later spread throughout the U.S.
