Today, data fuels everything we do in a highly connected world. However, traditional environmental monitoring methods often fail to provide timely and accurate data for effective decision-making in today's rapidly changing ecosystems. The reliance on manual data collection and outdated technologies results in gaps in data coverage, making it challenging to detect and respond to environmental changes in real time. Additionally, integration between monitoring systems and advanced data analysis tools is necessary to derive actionable insights from collected data. As a result, environmental managers and policymakers face significant challenges in effectively monitoring, managing, and conserving ...

What’s the life of a police officer like? Most of us have been exposed to it either through media or Bollywood, where police personnel are deemed to be insensitive, atrocious, dominating and political. However, is that really true? Are all police officers alike? Through Thick and Thin is a collection of personal memoirs from the diary of an honest and principled police officer, Vivek Deshpande. The book spans his career as a police & Intelligence officer of over thirty-five years and takes the reader through various instances, which show us the real side of the khaki men on duty. The book is an inspirational read for anyone that wants to understand what it takes to be a police officer in India and sets an example for Indian youth. Grab a copy and read about his interesting experiences in the chapters ‘Magic of Pani Puri’ and ‘Communal riots in Hyderabad’.
This book presents some of the most advanced leading-edge technology for the fourth Industrial Revolution -- known as “Industry 4.0.” The book provides a comprehensive understanding of the interconnections of AI, IoT, big data and cloud computing as integral to the technologies that revolutionize the way companies produce and distribute products and the way local governments deliver their services. The book emphasizes that at every phase of the supply chain, manufactures are found to be interweaving AI, robotics, IoT, big data/machine learning, and cloud computing into their production facilities and throughout their distribution networks. Equally important, the authors show how their research can be applied to computer vision, cyber security, database and compiler theory, natural language processing, healthcare, education and agriculture. Presents the fundamentals of AI, IoT, and cloud computing and how they can be incorporated in Industry 4.0 applications Motivates readers to address challenges in the areas of speech communication and signal processing Provides numerous examples, case studies, technical descriptions, and approaches of AI/ML
Kashmir has been, for some years, a key issue on the Indian political map. More than a decade of conflict has deeply affected people’s livelihoods and living environments, their health, their eating habits, their work and workplaces, their access to education. The impact of these things is felt most sharply in the lives of women, and yet, few discussions on Kashmir pay attention to this. The book reflects the range of women’s experiences in this conflict. How has the conflict affected them? How have they learnt to live with continuing violence? What strategies have they used to cope, to find a space to share or express what they are going through? What impact has the conflict had on their health and on their access to education? What has it meant for families, for power equations within them, for relationships, for children? The contributions in this book explore these issues through interviews with Kashmiri women, personal reflective pieces, extracts from different reports and books. Together they draw attention to a vital aspect of the conflict that has been all but forgotten. Published by Zubaan.
A sweeping and theoretically original analysis of the India-Pakistan rivalry from 1947 to the present. Since their mutual independence in 1947, India and Pakistan have been engaged in a fierce rivalry. Even today, both rivals continue to devote enormous resources to their military competition even as they face other pressing challenges at home and abroad. Why and when do rival states pursue conflict or cooperation? In The Difficult Politics of Peace, Christopher Clary provides a systematic examination of war-making and peace-building in the India-Pakistan rivalry from 1947 to the present. Drawing upon new evidence from recently declassified documents and policymaker interviews, the book trac...

A smart city utilizes ICT technologies to improve the working effectiveness, share various data with the citizens, and enhance political assistance and societal wellbeing. The fundamental needs of a smart and sustainable city are utilizing smart technology for enhancing municipal activities, expanding monetary development, and improving citizens’ standards of living. The Handbook of Research on Data-Driven Mathematical Modeling in Smart Cities discusses new mathematical models in smart and sustainable cities using big data, visualization tools in mathematical modeling, machine learning-based mathematical modeling, and more. It further delves into privacy and ethics in data analysis. Covering topics such as deep learning, optimization-based data science, and smart city automation, this premier reference source is an excellent resource for mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, civil engineers, government officials, students and educators of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
The numerical treatment of partial differential equations with particle methods and meshfree discretization techniques is an extremely active research field, both in the mathematics and engineering communities. Meshfree methods are becoming increasingly mainstream in various applications. Due to their independence of a mesh, particle schemes and meshfree methods can deal with large geometric changes of the domain more easily than classical discretization techniques. Furthermore, meshfree methods offer a promising approach for the coupling of particle models to continuous models. This volume of LNCSE is a collection of the papers from the proceedings of the Fifth International Workshop on Meshfree Methods, held in Bonn in August 2009. The articles address the different meshfree methods and their use in applied mathematics, physics and engineering. The volume is intended to foster this highly active and exciting area of interdisciplinary research and to present recent advances and findings in this field.
