DO NOT MARRY FOR LOVE is a collection of 44 poems by Wayland Bryant Jackson, offering historical criticism, religious philosophy, appreciation of nature, reflections on death, and humorous observations about life. Under one cover is a love that blankets the soul like a snowy benediction; a tribute to Nelson Man-DEL-a; reasons we say, To hell with you!; laws of survival, prosperity, and power; the bright light of truth, and how idea wins the day; questions that animate the lone adventurer; a 23rd song, and sweet melodies washing over the Central Valley; a mystic V-shaped line, and a wish to return as a bird; a teen dazzled by his own daring; black ops ordered and executed; a rivulet of regret as life slips away; the places where they met God; a firsthand metamorphosis, Humpty-Dumpty in the royal kitchen; and faith and hope still coming down the home stretch when love has already crossed the finish line.
