Intelligent Systems and Applications
This book presents the proceedings of the International Computer Symposium 2014 (ICS 2014), held at Tunghai University, Taichung, Taiwan in December. ICS is a biennial symposium founded in 1973 and offers a platform for researchers, educators and professionals to exchange their discoveries and practices, to share research experiences and to discuss potential new trends in the ICT industry. Topics covered in the ICS 2014 workshops include: algorithms and computation theory; artificial intelligence and fuzzy systems; computer architecture, embedded systems, SoC and VLSI/EDA; cryptography and information security; databases, data mining, big data and information retrieval; mobile computing, wireless communications and vehicular technologies; software engineering and programming languages; healthcare and bioinformatics, among others. There was also a workshop on information technology innovation, industrial application and the Internet of Things. ICS is one of Taiwan's most prestigious international IT symposiums, and this book will be of interest to all those involved in the world of information technology.

Human Interaction with Machines
The International Workshop on “Human Interaction with Machines” is the sixth in a successful series of workshops that were established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Technische Universität Berlin. The goal of those workshops is to bring together researchers from both universities in order to present research results to an international community. The series of workshops started in 1990 with the International Workshop on “Artificial Intelligence” and was continued with the International Workshop on “Advanced Software Technology” in 1994. Both workshops have been hosted by Shanghai Jiaotong University. In 1998 the third wo- shop took place in Berlin. This International Workshop on “Communi- tion Based Systems” was essentially based on results from the Graduiertenkolleg on Communication Based Systems that was funded by the German Research Society (DFG) from 1991 to 2000. The fourth Int- national Workshop on “Robotics and its Applications” was held in Sha- hai in 2000. The fifth International Workshop on “The Internet Challenge: Technology and Applications” was hosted by TU Berlin in 2002.

Adolescence Mental Health in School and University
A school, whether run by the government or a private institution, is established to prepare adolescents for adulthood. In some regions, some religious societies have established a comprehensive educational institution supported by their religious competencies requirement in their curriculum, along with the national curriculum. Adolescence is a period of life that ranges from 10 to 19 years old and expands from school to the early phase of university. Adolescents are considered highly susceptible to mental health issues. Anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, and suicidal attempts have been shown to increase before the age of 24. There is a myriad of factors that can contribute to the development of mental health disorders in this context, including family, parenting style, and bullying from peers/teachers. Failing to address contributing factors may hinder adolescents from fulfilling and sustaining healthy and productive adult lives.
