Charles William James Rawlinson is the son of Charles Rawlinson of Essex County, England. Charles Rawlinson married Hannah Lawrence in 1840; they immigrated to South Africa in 1848, where Charles William James was born. Charles and Hannah were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1853 in South Africa and soon after left for Utah. They lived and worked in Port Adelaide, Australia for four years before sailing for the United States, reaching Salt Lake City in 1866, then settling in Millard County in 1868. Charles William James marryed four times and fathering seventeen children. He died in 1937 in Oak City, Utah.
