This book frames the contentious political disputes surrounding Taiwan within the perspective of neorealist political theory. Analyzing the motives and relative importance that the actors involved bring to bear, Dr. Sang offers a timely intervention and a much-needed reality check on the role that Taiwan plays in structuring US-China-Japan trilateral relations—an issue that will dominate the years to come. This book will be of value to scholars, policymakers, and all those concerned with the future of Taiwan.

As China joins the capitalist world economy, the problems of social disintegration that gave rise to the earlier revolutionary social movements are becoming pressing. Instead of viewing the Chinese Revolution as an academic study, these essays suggest that the motifs of the Revolution are still alive and relevant. The slogan “Farewell to Revolution” that obscures the revolutionary language is premature. In spite of dislocations and ruptures in the revolutionary language, to rethink this discourse is to revisit a history in terms of sedimented layers of linguistic meanings and political aspirations. Earlier meanings of revolutionary words may persist or coexist with non-revolutionary rivals. Recovery of the vital uses of key revolutionary words proffers critical alternatives in which contemporary capitalist myths can be contested.

In recent years, there has been a considerable amount of effort, both in industry and academia, focusing on the design, implementation, performance analysis, evaluation and prediction of silicon photonic interconnects for inter- and intra-chip communication, paving the way for the design and dimensioning of the next and future generation of high-performance computing systems. Photonic Interconnects for Computing Systems provides a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art technology and research achievements in employing silicon photonics for interconnection networks and high-performance computing, summarizing main opportunities and some challenges. The majority of the chapters ...

GOD DEMON HEAVENLY 45

The distance of three hundred miles to Ning Xiaochuan was only a moment away. In front of them was a desolate ruin, one could see countless pieces of broken weapons, most of them were rusted, no different from scrap. In the middle of the ruins was a megalithic temple. The so-called temple had actually collapsed long ago, leaving only a few dozen stone pillars a hundred meters high, forming a circular base. On the ground were broken tiles and weeds, as if no one had passed by here for tens of millions of years. That powerful life force aura was emitted from this temple itself.

The construction of a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem is critical for every country in the world, with Silicon Valley an example of a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem that determines the level of national innovation capability and sustainable global competitiveness for the United States. However, at present, the research on entrepreneurial ecosystems in academia is still in its primary stage with few scholars studying the characteristics, composition, and sustainability of the ecosystem. Sustainability in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Operating Mechanisms and Enterprise Growth is a collection of innovative research that systematically explores the operation mechanism of sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem from macro and micro aspects so as to provide value for promoting economic vitality and regional economic development. Covering a broad range of topics including sustainability, economic development, and stakeholder management, this book is ideally designed for entrepreneurs, managers, investors, analysts, academicians, researchers, and students.

This proceedings contains articles submitted to the sixth International Conference on Cognitive Neurodynamics (ICCN2017). The Meeting included plenary lectures, specialized symposia, and posters presentations. The main topics of the meeting addressed the general substrates underlying neural functions and the neural dynamics in sensory, motor, and cognitive systems. Other important neuroscience fields covered in the meeting were learning and memory processes and the functionally-related changes in synaptic strength, neural oscillations, synchronizations and coherence activities between different neural circuits, and the imaging of cognitive networks. Finally, specific articles covered several fields related to neural computation and neuroengineering, the modelling higher-order functions and dysfunctions and the experimental design of brain-to-computer and brain-to-brain interactions. All articles were peer-reviewed. The ICCN is a series conference that takes place every two years since 2007.

This important monograph offers a resolution to the debate in theoretical linguistics over the role of syntactic head movement in word formation. It does so by synthesizing the syntactic and lexicalist approaches on the basis of the empirical data that support each side. In trying to determine how a morphologically complex word is formed in Universal Grammar, generative linguists have argued either that a substantial amount of morphological phenomena result from head movement in overt syntax (the widely adopted syntactic approach) or that morphological/lexical means are both necessary and sufficient for a theory of word formation (the Lexicalist Hypothesis). Li examines both the linguistic f...
