Processing of fine particles has presented numerous challenges to scientists and engineers for many years. Considerable progress has al ready been made in meeting these challenges across various fields of applications around the world. Research on every aspect of fine particle processing has gained momentum in recent years, resulting in the development of new processes, improved products, and better understanding of the science and engineering fundamentals of fine particles. This symposium addressed the recent progress in fine particles processing, particularly in the production of minerals for chemicals, pigments and metal production, ceramic materials, and fossil fuels. This book represent...
Handbook of Flotation Reagents: Chemistry, Theory and Practice is a condensed form of the fundamental knowledge of chemical reagents commonly used in flotation and is addressed to the researchers and plant metallurgists who employ these reagents. Consisting of three distinct parts: 1) provides detailed description of the chemistry used in mineral processing industry; 2) describes theoretical aspects of the action of flotation reagents3) provides information on the use of reagents in over 100 operating plants treating Cu, Cu/Zn, Cu/Pb, Zn, Pb/Zn/Ag, Cu/Ni and Ni ores.* Looks at the theoretical aspects of flotation reagents* Examines the practical aspects of using chemical reagents in operating plants* Provides guidelines for researchers and engineers involved in process design and development
Within technical overview sections on such emerging areas as bioprocessing, bioconversion, biosolubilization, biosystems and biocleaning, this handsomely illustrated reference specifically surveys pioneering work in the genetic production of sulfatase enzymes for removing organic sulfur from coal; r
To stay profitable while complying with environmental regulations requires that the coal industry not only improve fine coal recovery but also finds better ways for its utilization. This is the first monograph on the processing of fine coal which recognizes that all unit operations that handle fine coal depend on coal surface properties, and which in one single volume provides a comprehensive introduction to coal surface chemistry, using it rigorously in treating coal flotation fundamentals and engineering, fine coal manipulation, pelletization and briquetting, and coal-water slurries. Readers involved in mineral processing, chemical engineering, mining and metallurgical engineering; technical personnel working for reagent suppliers; and scientists researching the field of coal surface chemistry, flotation and fine coal utilization will find this volume of great interest.
Within this volume is a thorough coverage of the fundamental principles embracing modern theories of colloid chemistry applied to mineral processing. It is written in respect for Dr. J.A. Kitchener, distinguished Reader in the Science of Mineral Processing in the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, University of London (recently retired). Dr. Kitchener's expertise in colloid chemistry has led to numerous fundamental insights and practical advances in flotation, selective flocculation, and the treatment of slimes. Colloid chemistry is inevitably involved in all aspects of mineral processing, ranging from how collectors selectively adsorb on to mineral surfaces in flotation, to the forces which control the stability of dispersions of submicron particles, as well as embracing the behaviour of hydrolyzed metal ions in solid-water slurries. The intelligent use of this information is essential in the effective design of separation processes and strategies by the mineral processor. Up to date bibliographies are included at the end of each of the 13 chapters making this volume a useful general resource for researchers, students and mineral processors.
This volume originated from the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of engineering science which traditionally has considered the area known as colloid and surface science to be a specialist subdivision of physical chemistry. In practice, surface phenomena infiltrate many areas of diverse technological interest involving product development, manufacturing and biologicl and environmental processes. This first volume considers applicaitons in the proces sindustries and deliberately involves a wide range of process technologued udner three main hedings. The scope of the subject material is such that it is not intended necessarily to present a definitive view of the state of the art in each of the respective topics but to represent a stimulating introduction to the principles of treating colloidal materials.
"Discusses the origin of flotation in mineral processing, describes the application of new flotation theories, and considers various alternative techniques, including flocculation and solvent sublation. Contains authoritative contributions from more than 45 international experts."
The aim of this Special Issue is to publish high quality papers concerning poultry nutrition and the interrelations between nutrition, metabolism, microbiota and the health of poultry. Therefore, I invite submissions of recent findings, as original research or reviews, on poultry nutrition, including, but not limited to, the following areas: the effect of feeding on poultry meat end egg quality; nutrient requirements of poultry; the use of functional feed additives to improve gut health and immune status; microbiota; nutraceuticals; soybean meal replacers as alternative sources of protein for poultry; the effects of feeding poultry on environmental impacts; the use of feed/food by-products in poultry diet; and feed technology.
