This book presents the proceeding of 5th International Conference on Advances in Manufacturing and Materials Engineering (ICAMME2022), August 9–10, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It presents articles in topics that outline the state-of-the-art information in manufacturing and materials engineering for academia and industries. The topics represent the strong synergy between manufacturing, materials, design, and management supporting the transition from product service systems to life cycle engineering services as a contributor to high value manufacturing. The scope of this book also presents a set of new additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and advanced materials with new technology; green technology for United Nations SDGs; modeling & simulation of materials and manufacturing with some classical case examples. It caters to academics and industrial practitioners who have research interest in the latest advances in manufacturing and materials engineering.
Micromachining is used to fabricate three-dimensional microstructures and it is the foundation of a technology called Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems (MEMS). Bulk micromachining and surface micromachining are two major categories (among others) in this field. This book presents advances in micromachining technology. For this, we have gathered review articles related to various techniques and methods of micro/nano fabrications, like focused ion beams, laser ablation, and several other specialized techniques, from esteemed researchers and scientists around the world. Each chapter gives a complete description of a specific micromachining method, design, associate analytical works, experimental set-up, and the final fabricated devices, followed by many references related to this field of research available in other literature. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of this technology, the collection of articles presented here can be used by scientists and researchers in the disciplines of engineering, materials sciences, physics, and chemistry.
This book gathers selected science and technology papers that were presented at the 2014 Regional Conference of Sciences, Technology and Social Sciences (RCSTSS 2014). The bi-annual Conference is organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang, Malaysia. The papers address a broad range of topics including architecture, life sciences, robotics, sustainable development, engineering, food science and mathematics. The book serves as a platform for disseminating research findings, as a catalyst to inspire positive innovations in the development of the region. The carefully-reviewed papers in this volume present research by academicians of local, regional and global prominence. Out of more than 200...
This is an open access book. The 6th FIRST 2022 International Conference offers the researchers in academics, industries, and governments, a conference, for exchanging, sharing, following up, and discussing the results of the latest researches, industry’s needs, and government regulatory policies. The 6th FIRST 2022 International Conference facilitates the participants from all over the world to meet face to face to open chances in establishing connections and collaboration among them.
Silicon Carbide (SiC) and its polytypes, used primarily for grinding and high temperature ceramics, have been a part of human civilization for a long time. The inherent ability of SiC devices to operate with higher efficiency and lower environmental footprint than silicon-based devices at high temperatures and under high voltages pushes SiC on the verge of becoming the material of choice for high power electronics and optoelectronics. What is more important, SiC is emerging to become a template for graphene fabrication, and a material for the next generation of sub-32nm semiconductor devices. It is thus increasingly clear that SiC electronic systems will dominate the new energy and transport...

From working in a corner shop to running a multi-national corporation, Iqbal Ahmed overcame the odds to rise from humble beginnings and change his life. Known in some circles as ‘King Prawn’, Iqbal arrived in England at the age of fifteen having fled with his mother and siblings from the war that was then raging in his native Bangladesh. Upon arrival he joined his father’s business at a corner shop in Oldham, but soon his eye for innovation saw an opportunity which would alter his life for ever. Ahmed made his fortune in importing ocean tiger prawns to the UK from his home country, to the great benefit of many people along the way. While his achievements have not gone unnoticed – in ...
Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is very important and prominent machining process among all the newly developed non -traditional machining techniques. This process is extremely useful for “difficult to machine” conducting materials such as heat treated tool steels, composites, super alloys, heat resistant steels, ceramics, carbides, etc. In this technique i.e. in EDM, the material removal of the electrode is achieved through high frequency sparks between the tool and the work-piece immersed into the dielectric. The Material Removal Rate (MRR), Tool Wear Rate (TWR) and surface roughness are some of the important performance parameter of EDM process. The objective of EDM is to get high ...
