Osmanlı Devletinde de devlet ile alakalı önemli evrak ve yazışmaları kayıt altına almış ve bu kayıtlar Osmanlı Arşivi adı altında toplanmıştır. Bunun dışında Tanzimat Fermanının ilanından sonra her yıl devletin ve vilayetlerin idari, sosyal, ekonomik durumları hakkında bilgiler içeren yıllıklar tutulmaya başlanmıştır.
