This is the story of a genius and a fraud. For more than half a century, Olivier Creed, heir to a French fashion empire but out to conquer an adjacent field by himself, created the most compelling and costly perfumes in the world - scents so successful - artistically and commercially - that the world's largest asset manager bought his small olfactory enterprise for nearly $1 billion in 2020. One could arguably have called him the world's most capable perfumer. Except Olivier Creed never authored the scents for which he has long received acclaim and lucre. Gabe Oppenheim reveals the heretofore untold story behind this supposed-cologne colossus of a man - and the eponymous company that became ...
The Dynamics of Combustion Systems are presented in three parts in this book. Together they provide a step towards the automatic control of explosions. The exothermic character of combustion systems, their fluid dynamic features, and explosive nature, are covered by this work which also provides a technical monograph for readers with some background in combustion technology. The book is likely to appeal to graduate students, and researchers in academia and industry.
Covering the dynamics of reactive systems and of explosions, the 15 papers discuss the treatment of turbulent mixing in reactive systems, acoustic interactions with combustion fields, liquid atomization, soot formation, practical applications of combustion in waste incineration and pulse jet ignition in internal combustion engines, detonations phenomena, and mixing effects in explosions. Includes six color plates. No index. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

The first symposium in this series was held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in December 1988 and was entitled "Novel Neutrophil Stimulating Peptides". That symposium successfully brought together the majority of laboratories working in the area of interleukin-8 and related peptides; see Immunology Today 10: 146-147 (1989). The Second International Symposium on Chemotactic Cytokines was held at the same venue in June 1990, and a much-increased attendance reflected the accelerating pace of work in the area of these chemotactic cytokines. The proceedings of that meeting were published in Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, vol. 305 (1991). The rapid advances made in the f...
