He has been a social activist and advocate for the UN version of Universal Human Rights for many years, In 2012, he established and financed the Indonesia Without Discrimination Foundation. He has often spoken out publicly in defense of the right of citizens to choose their own lifestyles. He has also voiced the concerns through literature.
