This book is a collection of extended papers presented at the Cyber Physical, Computer and Automation System (CPCAS 2019), Bali – Indonesia, 13–15 November 2019. The book includes chapters in three prime areas: (1) autonomous systems and controls; (2) human–machine interaction and human-related engineering; and (3) interconnected things. Autonomous systems and controls are systems of engineering that work with or without human intervention. Human–machine interaction involves sensor and actuator technology to detect human behavior, intentions, and decisions and also to provide the ability of a machine to interact with humans to achieve the expected performance. Interconnected things consist of a network of computer-controlled physical mechanisms communicating with each other for efficient operation and improving system capabilities.
Geographic information systems have developed rapidly in the past decade, and are now a major class of software, with applications that include infrastructure maintenance, resource management, agriculture, Earth science, and planning. But a lack of standards has led to a general inability for one GIS to interoperate with another. It is difficult for one GIS to share data with another, or for people trained on one system to adapt easily to the commands and user interface of another. Failure to interoperate is a problem at many levels, ranging from the purely technical to the semantic and the institutional. Interoperating Geographic Information Systems is about efforts to improve the ability o...
Now updated and revised, this highly practical, hands-on text continues to present a contemporary, object-oriented approach using UML. Authors Alan Dennis, Barbara Haley Wixom, and David Tegarden equip readers with the basic skills they need to do systems analysis and design. Each chapter in the text describes one part of the SAD process, with clear explanations of what it is and how to implement it, along with detailed examples and exercises designed to help you practice what you've learned. · Introduction to Systems Analysis and Design· Introduction to Object-Oriented Systems Analysis & Design with Unified Modeling Language, Version 2.0· Project Initiation· Project Management · Requirements Determination· Functional Modeling· Structural Modeling· Behavioral Modeling· .Moving on to Design· Class and Method Design· Data Management Layering· Human Computer Interaction Design· Physical Architecture Layer Design· Construction· Installation and Operations
The purpose of a DIMACS Challenge is to encourage and coordinate research in the experimental analysis of algorithms. The First DIMACS Challenge encouraged experimental work in the area of network flow and matchings. This Second DIMACS Challenge, on which this volume is based, took place in conjunction with the DIMACS Special Year on Combinatorial Optimization. Addressed here are three difficult combinatorial optimization problems: finding cliques in a graph, colouring the vertices of a graph, and solving instances of the satisfiability problem. These problems were chosen both for their practical interest and because of their theoretical intractability.
This book discusses a famous problem that helped to define the field now known as topology: What is the minimum number of colors required to print a map so that no two adjoining countries have the same color? This problem remained unsolved until the 1950s, when it was finally cracked using a computer. This book discusses the history and mathematics of the problem, as well as the philosophical debate which ensued, regarding the validity of computer generated proofs.
The Cambridge Handbook of Personal Relationships serves as a benchmark of the current state of scholarship in this dynamic field synthesizing the extant theoretical and empirical literature, tracing its historical roots, and making recommendations for future directions. The volume addresses a broad range of established and emerging topics including: theoretical and methodological issues that influence the study of personal relationships; research and theory on relationship development, the nature and functions of personal relationships across the lifespan; individual differences and their influences on relationships; relationship processes such as cognition, emotion, and communication; relational qualities such as satisfaction and commitment; environmental influences on personal relationships; and maintenance and repair of relationships. The authors are experts from a variety of disciplines including several subfields of psychology, communication, family studies and sociology who have made major contributions to the understanding of relationships.
