Berbicara integritas sangat mudah diucapkan namun sulit diimplementasikan. Kita sering lihat bagaimana “atasan” memberikan pembinaan ...
STOP READING THE NEWS is a vital toolkit for finding equilibrium and calm at a time of chaos and uncertainty In 2013 Rolf Dobelli stood in front of a roomful of journalists and proclaimed that he did not read the news. It caused a riot. Now the author of the bestselling The Art of Thinking Clearly finally sets down his philosophy in detail. And he practises what he preaches: he hasn't read the news for a decade. Stop Reading the News is Dobelli's manifesto about the dangers of the most toxic form of information - news. He shows the damage it does to our concentration and well-being, and how a misplaced sense of duty can misdirect our behaviour. Most importantly, he offers the reader the guidance on how to live without news, and the many potential gains to be had: less disruption, more time, less anxiety, more insights. In a world of increasing disruption and division, Stop Reading the News is a welcome voice of calm and wisdom.
This is the first comprehensive study of trends in marriage and divorce in the world's largest Islamic population, that of South-East Asia, covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand, and parts of the Philippines. The study draws together elusive data to provide a comprehensive picture of time trends and of differentials in marriage and divorce within this region. These trends are distinctive: since the 1950s, age at marriage for females has risen sharply, age differences between spouses have narrowed, and divorce rates have fallen markedly from very high levels to levels well below those in Western countries. The study sets these trends within the context of the pre-Islamic situation in the region, the effects of the coming of Islam, and more recent political, social, economic, and legal changes which have influenced the family and marriage patterns. The study draws heavily on historical and ethnographic sources, as well as the author's own fieldwork and extensive experience within the region. The result is a fascinating account of changes in marriage and divorce patterns in a region experiencing rapid economic and social development.
Reprint of the second revised and enlarged edition, a complete revision of the first edition published in 1934. A landmark in the development of modern jurisprudence, the pure theory of law defines law as a system of coercive norms created by the state that rests on the validity of a generally accepted Grundnorm, or basic norm, such as the supremacy of the Constitution. Entirely self-supporting, it rejects any concept derived from metaphysics, politics, ethics, sociology, or the natural sciences. Beginning with the medieval reception of Roman law, traditional jurisprudence has maintained a dual system of "subjective" law (the rights of a person) and "objective" law (the system of norms). Thr...

There may be no more urgent cry today than that of "justice" -- and no more frequent accusation than that of "injustice." But what is meant when these terms are used? Six Theories of Justice clarifies that question and offers major alternative answers. Dr. Lebacqz surveys three philosophical approaches to justice: John Stuart Mill's utilitarianism, the "contract" system of John Rawls, and the "entitlement" views of Robert Nozick. These are followed by analysis of three theological approaches: that of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, of Reinhold Niebuhr, and of the liberation theologian Jose Porfirio Miranda. A comparison of the effectiveness of each approach in providing direction for facing and dealing with contemporary issues and situations adds to the usefulness of this volume. A lucid and well-structured introduction to recent thinking in social ethics.
