Arthur, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada is a small agricultural community located just north of present day Highway 6 and Wellington Road. Here, 136 years ago the fifth child of Leeson (Leason) Corbett, a carpenter, was born and raised. Like so many other young men of his generation, World War I would have a profound effect on him. Edward Albert Corbett would answer the call of duty and in the spring of 1916 he would enlist in the 228th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Corbett served only two days when he met his own fate in a small town called Cochrane in northeastern Ontario, Canada. This then is the narrative of the life and times of Edward Albert Corbett.
