End-User Development
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 8th International Conference on End-User Development, IS-EUD 2021, held in July 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The paper track received 26 submissions, of which 11 full and 4 short papers were selected after a rigorous double-blind review process. The papers focus on “Democratizing AI development”, namely on EUD for AI-based systems, where end users are called-on to become end-user developers of intelligent agents, digital twins, collaborative systems and social robots.

Architecture Oriented Otherwise
So much writing about architecture tends to evaluate it on the basis of its intentions: how closely it corresponds to the artistic will of the designer, the technical skills of the builder, or whether it reflects the spirit of the place and time in which it was built, making it not much more than the willful (or even subconscious) assemblage of objects that result from design and construction techniques. Renowned writer and thinker David Leatherbarrow, in this groundbreaking new book, argues for a richer and more profound, but also simpler, way of thinking about architecture, namely on the basis of how it performs. Not simply how it functions, but how it acts, "its manner of existing in the world," including its effects on the observers and inhabitants of a building as well as on the landscape that situates it. Robert Musils Drang nach Berlin
Der österreichische Ingenieur Robert Musil wählt 1903 die Berliner Humboldt-Universität für sein Zweitstudium in Philosophie und Psychologie, entscheidet sich nach der Promotion ebendort für den Schriftstellerberuf und schlägt die Möglichkeit einer akademischen Karriere in seiner Heimat aus. 1914 wird er (nach einem Zwischenspiel als Bibliothekar in Wien) in Berlin Redakteur der Neuen Rundschau, veröffentlicht seine Werke in Berliner Verlagen und bietet seine Stücke dortigen Theatern an. Schließlich ist es auch in Berlin, wo er den Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs und die nationalsozialistische Machtergreifung erleben sollte. Die intensive Verbundenheit Musils zur deutschen Hauptstadt verdient eine eingehende Untersuchung. Dieser Band bietet eine solche in der Form von gesammelten Aufsätzen zu den Stationen in Musils Berliner Leben.
