Different types of dictionaries

Some of them don’t even know that there are different types of dictionaries, although the knowledge of how a term can be best found in the appropriate dictionary is an aid for academic research and will be helpful on their future job. This paper is to inform not only students but also the general public who is interested in dictionaries about the use of dictionaries, as well as the many different types and kinds of dictionaries that are available to them. Dictionaries can help everyone to better understand the own language, or languages one is learning. This paper also contains a list of good monolingual and bilingual dictionaries with some sample pages. It also provides the explanation of certain types of specialized dictionaries which seemed interesting and important to the author.

Kreatives Übersetzen
Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Dolmetschen / Übersetzen, Note: 2.0, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Fachbereich für Angewandte Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaften Germersheim), Veranstaltung: Kreatives Übersetzen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Eine kreative Übersetzung entsteht laut Kußmaul „[...] aufgrund einer obligatorischen Veränderung des Ausgangstexts, und sie stellt etwas mehr oder weniger Neues dar, das zu einer bestimmten Zeit und in einer (Sub-)Kultur von Experten (=von Vertretern eines Paradigmas) im Hinblick auf einen bestimmten Verwendungszweck als mehr oder weniger angemessen akzeptiert wird.“ Kreativität wurde bisher selten mit Übersetzen in Verbindung gebracht. Aber auch eine Übersetzung kann in gewissem Maße eine kreative Leistung sein, denn während des Übersetzungsvorgangs laufen Denkprozesse ab, die zu kreativen Lösungen führen. Um kreative Denkprozesse besser aufzeigen zu können, wird ein Dialogprotokoll erstellt. Dafür werden zwei Testpersonen beim Übersetzen auf Tonband aufgenommen und das auf diese Weise entstehende Gesprächsprotokoll analysiert. Die Analyse des Protokolls wird im Folgenden ausführlich dargestellt.
