Management Strategies to Adapt Alpine Space Forests to Climate Change Risks
Climate scenarios suggest that current forest stands will face radically different temperature and precipitation conditions in the future. Developing future strategies for forest management in the face of uncertain and highly variable forecasts of future site conditions is a great challenge. Here we have analyzed transnational case studies dealing with different manifestations of climate change effects. We intend to stimulate the discussion on management strategies to adapt forests in the Alps to climate change risks. The presented results are derived from the INTERREG project "Management Strategies to Adapt Alpine Space Forests to Climate Change Risks" that was implemented within the framework of the European Territorial Cooperation "Alpine Space Programme" 2007-2013.
CO2 Sequestration and Valorization
The reconciliation of economic development, social justice and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is one of the biggest political challenges of the moment. Strategies for mitigating CO2 emissions on a large scale using sequestration, storage and carbon technologies are priorities on the agendas of research centres and governments. Research on carbon sequestration is the path to solving major sustainability problems of this century a complex issue that requires a scientific approach and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary technology, plus a collaborative policy among nations. Slovenski izseljenci in Zahodna Evropa v obdobju prve Jugoslavije
Ko so se po prvi svetovni vojni zaprla »zlata vrata« v obljubljeno deželo, Združene države Amerike, se je sprožil nov izseljenski tok v razvite evropske države, predvsem v Francijo, Belgijo, Nizozemsko in Nemčijo. To je bil čas prve Jugoslavije. Del selitvenega dogajanja so predstavljali slovenski izseljenci, izseljenke in njihovi otroci. Čas med obema vojnama je bil zaznamovan z veliko gospodarsko krizo in s povečanimi ideološkimi in političnimi pritiski. Močno prisotna v odnosu do izseljencev je bila Katoliška cerkev.
