"Our reporter Sam Wilcox is live from the Australia Observatory. Sam, what's happening?" "Thanks Gary. Astronomers all over the World are saying that there's been some strange solar activity of late, something they've never witnessed before." "What kind of activity Sam?" "They're calling them Sun Spikes. I have with me Astronomer Fred Wilson. Dr Wilson, can you tell us?" "Well Sam, these events have never been documented and no-one has come up with any tangible explanation as yet. Frankly we're scratching our heads." "So, what do you know?" "For some reason there are wafer thin spikes of light shooting out from the Sun and they're now threatening to penetrate our atmosphere." "And what will happen if they do?" "We don't know but what's even more peculiar is the fact they're travelling at faster than light speed." "That's impossible isn't it?" "Indeed. These Sun Spikes are new to science as we know it. They breach the laws of physics." "Are we in danger Dr Wilson?" "I'd like to say no, but the truth is we have no idea what effect they might have if one or more of these things strikes the planet or God forbid, people."

In the early 23rd Century, time travel has become a reality. For years, the Infinity Generator remains unused as governments debate the ramifications of potential alterations to the past until one nation, Germany, proposes the correction of humanity's worst atrocity, The Holocaust. The United Nations agrees and a committee is formed to work up a plan. They decide that erasing Adolph Hitler from history is the best way to achieve their goal. They study his life, find his vulnerabilities and finally execute their attack. Like many before them, they fail and with that a new and terrible foe becomes aware of their intentions, hell bent on revenge. Now the U.N. must fight against time itself to achieve success before the future, the present and the past are controlled by the Fourth Reich.

Contradiction Studies – Exploring the Field

“Contradiction” is a core concept in the humanities and the social sciences. Beside the classical ideas of logical or dialectical contradiction, instances of “lived” contradiction and strategies of coping with it are objects of this study. Contradiction Studies discuss the many ways in which explicit or implicit contradictions are negotiated in different political or cultural settings. This volume collects articles that tackle the concept of contradiction, practices of contradicting and lived contradictions from a number of relevant perspectives and assembles contributions from linguistics, literary studies, philosophy, political science, and media studies.

Straight Shooter

Matthew Lloyd at his peak was a goal kicking machine in an era where the power forward was fading from the game. A five-time all Australian, he topped the AFL goal kicking three times in his 270 game career and kicked the ton twice, his first in the Essendon Premiership season of 2000. Born into a football family, it was clear early in his career that he had the ability to surpass his father John's 29 games with Carlton. For a while it looked he would head to Carton as well, but Essendon conjured up a complex deal to secure the talented 16-year-old in the 1994 pre-season draft. Brothers Simon and Brad each played football too and are now involved with the Fremantle Football Club, and sister ...
