The Eschaton

Arnold brings to the Biblical study of the end times his rationalistic and scientific approach. While this approach enhances, it in no way changes or attempts to correct Biblical text or its meaning. Arnold defines the Eschaton, the end of all things in Greek, as the composite of “signs of the end, the Lord’s return, the judgment, and life eternal or damnation“. He believes the Lord’s use of the word “generation” based on the original Greek is ‘an interval of time, an age’. This age of believers, Jesus teaches, will not pass away until all the signs of the end have taken place. By the doctrine of Predestination the end can not come until the last Christian on earth is born. H...

Iran and the Muslim countries where the irrational burqa is more popular today than one or two generations ago count more politically and economically than few years ago. The countries where the miniskirt and more relaxed moral attitudes have been more popular count always less in the world scene. Third world countries with high birth rates have progressed relatively more than Western countries with lower birthrates. When there was the industrial revolution in the 18th century with great progress and Britain started to dominate the seas, the birth rates were very high. Since Independence in 1947, the population of India has increased fourfold, and progressed a lot. Could you imagine Britain or any other European country starting to conquer the world again? The other way out seems more probable. With young people from developing countries that dare attack America and the western countries in their own territories.

The debris of Latin litter the former territory of the Western Roman Empire as celestial bodies lie scattered throughout the solar system. History and politics have promoted some of these fragments to national tongues, the vehicles of government and the carriers of great literatures: these are the planets of the Romance system. But it has its asteroids too, the forms assumed by Latin in the narrow areas which never extended their boundaries: the dialects. The name must not mislead us: they too are languages, and man's creative instinct being what it is, they have their literatures. One such is presented in this book, both to linguists, interested in language as a mechanism; and to phoneticia...

In the 5000 years of the history that we know, great empires grew and fell according to certain patterns that repeat themselves like laws of nature. The USA rose and grew to prominence in the world, reached its zenith in 1945 with the military victory and with the atom bomb, but is not destined to stay there forever. The book tries to draw the attention to the signs of decadence that match the patterns of the decadence of previous empires in history, and the patterns of growth, of progress in other cultural milieus: very few pundits in America, and in the western media in general, seem to be aware of this fact. The birth rates keep diminishing in America, and are very low in Europe. In other civilisations the birth rates have been high, and those countries count more in the world today, politically and economically, than a few generations ago. In addition, the irrational and passionate attitude of those peoples, including the aggressive suicidal attitude with religious and political connotations, is a sign of progress for them. Those people who are in favour of family planning programs and of a more relaxed morality are acting against the general interests of their countries.
