Algorithms are essential building blocks of computer applications. However, advancements in computer hardware, which render traditional computer models more and more unrealistic, and an ever increasing demand for efficient solution to actual real world problems have led to a rising gap between classical algorithm theory and algorithmics in practice. The emerging discipline of Algorithm Engineering aims at bridging this gap. Driven by concrete applications, Algorithm Engineering complements theory by the benefits of experimentation and puts equal emphasis on all aspects arising during a cyclic solution process ranging from realistic modeling, design, analysis, robust and efficient implementat...

The Times of Round Top

Throughout the times of the land we call Round Top, one thought has constantly prevailed. This is a land of opportunity. The land was formed over the centuries into flat land and hills by rivers beyond and by creeks and springs, while waiting for animals and mankind to arrive. This land is located in the northeastern margin of today's Fayette County, and lies on a high hill that looks down toward the south into the bottom lands of a crossing. The struggle on this small piece of land began with the movement of animals that needed a convenient place for water that was crossable during the seasons. This perfect crossing flows through the south eastern side of the present town of Round Top located between two high hills. This crossing was the home of native American Indians, American settlers and German immigrants.

But the Great Pyramid guards its secrets jealously, and the efforts of most have been silently rebuffed. Until now. Is it the will of destiny or Gods eternal hand that connects two strangers in tragic circumstances with the Great Pyramid itself? It is only through the determination of one that the truth is revealedand in that effort, the name of the other is cleared. Despite being relentlessly hunted by the descendants of the elite ancient warriors, he is now on a quest for truth that spans two continents. One of the greatest deceptions in the after-burial of the most powerful and influential pharaoh in all of ancient Egypts history is about to be revealed. Will what he discovers be his salvation or his extinction?

German Immigrants

"This is the third volume of the German Immigrants series (see also Items 6580, 6581, and 6583), this one listing passengers from Bremen to New York between 1863 and September 1867. Owing to the total destruction of the original Bremen passenger lists, this volume, like the others, is the only practical means of discovering information on thousands of individuals for whom immigrant origin data was thought to be irretrievably lost. In effect, it is a partial reconstruction of the Bremen records, based on official passenger lists and manifests in the custody of the National Archives. It is, therefore, a record of arrivals rather than departures, and it is the closest we are ever likely to come to duplicating information in the lost Bremen records"--Publisher website (December 2007).
