Extreme Breach of Trust

Murray Cohen planned to live out his "Golden Years," in his home on Siesta Key Sarasota, Florida. His dream was cut short when his wife of three weeks deliberately denied him medical assistance when he requested an ambulance thinking he was having a natural heart attack. Murray's bride waited until she believed he was dead before making her 'Academy Award' call to 911. Unfortunately for his killer, Murray was not finished fighting for his life. Murray Cohen's death was classified as natural by authorities in the State of Florida. His son became suspicious after many red flags and began his own investigation. He uncovered the ultimate evidence of murder left behind by his father. This story shines a light on how unequal, corrupt, and broken the Civil and Criminal Justice systems in America have become.

The 1940s saw a brief audacious experiment in mass entertainment: a jukebox with a screen. Patrons could insert a dime, then listen to and watch such popular entertainers as Nat "King" Cole, Gene Krupa, Cab Calloway or Les Paul. A number of companies offered these tuneful delights, but the most successful was the Mills Novelty Company and its three-minute musical shorts called Soundies. This book is a complete filmography of 1,880 Soundies: the musicians heard and seen on screen, recording and filming dates, arrangers, soloists, dancers, entertainment trade reviews and more. Additional filmographies cover more than 80 subjects produced by other companies. There are 125 photos taken on film sets, along with advertising images and production documents. More than 75 interviews narrate the firsthand experiences and recollections of Soundies directors and participants. Forty years before MTV, the Soundies were there for those who loved the popular music of the 1940s. This was truly "music for the eyes."

Janice Holt Giles

In 1946, at the age of 41, Janice Holt Giles wrote her first novel. Although it took her only three months to complete the first draft, working at night so as not to conflict with her secretarial job, it was another four years before The Enduring Hills was published. Three years later, when her sixth novel appeared, Janice Holt Giles's works had accumulated sales of nearly two million copies. Between 1950 and 1975 she wrote twenty-four books, most of which were bestsellers, regularly reviewed in the New York Times, and selected for inclusion in popular book clubs. Her picture held pride of place in her literary agent's New York office, alongside those of Willa Cather, H.G. Wells, and Edith W...
