Ilmu biomedik dasar adalah ilmu yang berfokus pada kesehatan dan kesejahteraan manusia yang mencakup keseluruhan bidang ilmu kesehatan seperti anatomi, fisiologi, biologi, patologi, fisika dan kimia untuk menjelaskan kehidupan dan pengorganisasian manusia mulai dari tingkat sel, jaringan, organ dan sistem berfungsi dalam tubuh. Fokus dari ilmu biomedik dasar ini sangat sesuai dengan materi pembelajaran bidang ilmu kesehatan sehingga dapat membantu dan mendukung mahasiswa kesehatan dalam memahami pembelajaran di kelas. Materi yang dibahas dalam buku ini terdiri atas 15 bab yaitu dasar anatomi dan fisiologi tubuh manusia, struktur dan fungsi sel, jaringan tubuh manusia, sistem integument, sistem muskuloskeletal, sistem saraf, sistem indera, sistem endokrin, sistem kardiovaskuler, sistem limfatik dan kekebalan tubuh, sistem pernafasan, sistem metabolisme, sistem perkemihan, sistem reproduksi, dan sistem pencernaan.
