Miguel Junior é um advogado paulista formado no Largo São Francisco. De família aristocrática, Miguel vê o progresso de São Paulo, onde almeja concorrer a prefeito, a governador e, quem sabe, ao cargo de presidente da República café com leite. No entanto, com a Revolução de 1930 e a subida do governo de Vargas, seu sonho começa a ruir, consequentemente ele apoia a revolução constitucionalista de 1932. Derrotado no exílio, Miguel Junior faz um projeto de país contrapondo-se ao modelo desenvolvimentista de Getúlio Vargas, criando uma contraproposta a um modelo de país liberal que só será alcançado com investimentos na educação e, por conseguinte, no desenvolvimento cultural e científico do Brasil.
