A presente pesquisa visa abordar uma interessante vertente acerca da responsabilidade civil: a perda de uma chance, que surgiu na França (perte d'une chance), nos idos de 1889. O tema é intrigante e pouco abordado pelos nossos doutrinadores e vários tribunais ainda relutam em aplicá-lo de forma correta por não entendê-lo como sendo dano autônomo e perfeitamente ressarcível como os demais danos, desde que preenchidos os requisitos. A perda de uma chance se justifica quando o sujeito lesado sofre um prejuízo e que em razão da perda de uma possibilidade ou chance de obter uma vantagem ou evitar um prejuízo, não a mais possui por ser irreversível. O estudo aborda uma visão doutrinária e jurisprudencial dos ordenamentos jurídicos luso-brasileiros a respeito do tema, por vezes objeto de muitas dúvidas em razão da falta de um dispositivo legal que a discipline, o que impede a sua correta aplicação, seja nos casos clássicos ou médicos.

The six-volume set LNCS 10404-10409 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2017, held in Trieste, Italy, in July 2017. The 313 full papers and 12 short papers included in the 6-volume proceedings set were carefully reviewed and selected from 1052 submissions. Apart from the general tracks, ICCSA 2017 included 43 international workshops in various areas of computational sciences, ranging from computational science technologies to specific areas of computational sciences, such as computer graphics and virtual reality. Furthermore, this year ICCSA 2017 hosted the XIV International Workshop On Quantum Reactive Scattering. The program also featured 3 keynote speeches and 4 tutorials.
