La région parisienne célèbre cette année le 80e anniversaire de la Libératioin après quatre ans d'occupation nazie. C'est l'occasion de revisiter l'histoire de Massy, bourg de 5000 habitants et important noeud de communication au sud de Paris, pendant cette année qui a connu des bombardements meurtriers avant la libération par l'armée du général Leclerc. C'est aussi un moment privilégié pour rendre hommage à toutes celles et ceux qui ont été acteurs de cette libération ou victimes de cette guerre, qu'ils aient été massicois en 1944 ou le soient devenus par la suite.
Masy, en Essonne, est passée de 4 840 habitants en 1940 à plus de 50 000 aujourd'hui. Cette croissance urbaine s'est accompagnée de l'installation d'oeuvres d'art diverses dans les rues de la ville : sculptures, stèles, peintures murales et autres. Massy est ainsi devenue un étonnant musée à ciel ouvert.
Ce livre est l'histoire de la construction d'un nouveau quartier de la ville de Massy (Essonne) entre 1959 et 1982. Elle est racontée principalement à partir de documents des archives municipales et de témoignages d'habitants. Il ouvre aussi quelques perspectives sur l'évolution postérieure du quartier.
