Así, hablar de ciudad es referirse a los espacios centrales de la cultura; las instituciones culturales que ordenan el mundo creativo concentran las luchas por el poder simbólico y caracterizan en gran medida el peso y la identidad cultural de las ciudades. Además, los distritos y clústeres culturales concentran a artistas, intermediarios e industrias culturales, convirtiéndose así en polos atractores de la actividad creativa, del consumo y el turismo cultural.
