Buku ini dikembangkan dengan memperhatikan aspek sosial, khususnya perspektif Ilmu Kesejahteraan Sosial untuk memberikan warna yang berbeda dalam upaya penanggulangan bencana. Agar dapat menggali aspek developmental yang lebih menekankan kekuatan analisisnya bukan hanya pada isu dan permasalahan, namun juga pada aspek partisipasi dan pemberdayaan. Dalam manajemen penanggulangan bencana, sumbangan yang diberikan Ilmu Kesejahteraan Sosial adalah adanya intervensi sosial pada tiap tahapan siklus mitigasi, kesiapsiagaan, tanggap darurat dan pemulihan (rehabilitasi-rekonstruksi). Ini sesuai dengan hakekat dari Ilmu Kesejahteraan Sosial sebagai sebuah ilmu terapan. Pada tiap siklus penanggulangan bencana akan diwarnai dengan strength-based approach dan pemberdayaan individu maupun komunitas.

Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian
This book aims to describe aspects of the Indonesian language as spoken by educated Jakartans in everyday interactions. This style of language is in many ways significantly different from the formal language of government and education, to the extent that it deserves separate consideration. While formal Indonesian has been the subject of a considerable amount of description very little attention has been paid to informal styles of the language. The variety described here, Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian, is the prestige variety of colloquial Indonesian and is becoming the standard informal style. The description and texts in following chapters are drawn from recordings of natural speech of educated people living in Jakarta . While the book aims to inform those with a background in linguistics the needs of teachers and learners with little or no knowledge of linguistics is always borne in mind. The work thus does not consider theoretical linguistic issues nor use technical terms which would not be readily understood by most readers.

Rapid demographic growth will add 600 million people to cities and towns in developing countries during the 1990s, about two-thirds of the expected total population increase. Of the world's 21 megacities, which will expand to have more than 10 million people, 17 will be in developing countries. With urban economic activities making up an increasing share of GDP in all countries, the productivity of the urban economy will heavily influence economic growth. Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation
In the network of cardiologists within the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Physiology there is a strong view that the time indeed is right to publish definitively on the methods involved in cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation. We are facing a transition from conventional cardiac rehabilitation to a phase of combined preventive and rehabilitative efforts, as witnessed in the recent Joint Task Force Guidelines on Preventive Cardiology. For this revision of our clinical routines we lack a practical textbook, based upon the conditions and resources of European health care. This textbook is designed to fill that gap.
