This book applies contemporary linguistic theories and the findings of traditional grammar to the study of Latin syntax. It the first full-scale work of its kind in English, and contains extensive examples from literary and non-literary sources including Plautus and Cicero.

Donum Grammaticum
The articles in this volume treat issues in Hannah Rosen's many fields of scholarly interest. Most of the articles deal with subjects in Latin linguistics and philology; others treat Celtic linguistics and philology, while some combine the two. A number of the papers take Hannah Rosen's own work as their point of departure: especially, research on nominalization and periphrasis; on tense use and narrative structure; on translation technique. The authors adopt a variety of perspectives and approaches. This volume includes many contributions that are descriptive, comparative, or historical in nature, as well as some reflecting a literary orientation. A few authors use the text and its structure as their framework. A wide range of approaches to syntactical analysis on various levels of expression is prominently represented in the work of many of the contributors.
The Mother of the Infant King, Isaiah 7:14
Jerusalem, around 735 BC. Two armies threaten the Holy City to overthrow the dynasty of David. Ahaz, king of Judah, is consumed by fear and worry. Then the prophet Isaiah delivers his message: the 'alma is pregnant, she bears a son, and gives him the name Emmanuel. What is the meaning of the word 'alma? Without doubt more has been written on the interpretation of this term than on any other verse in the Old Testament. Is it a question of a virgin, as claimed by the fathers of the church, or of a young woman, as asserted by the majority of modern scholars?

Exploring Latin: Structures, Functions, Meaning
This two-volume work contains a selection of papers first presented at the 22nd International Colloquium on Latin Linguistics, held in Prague (2023). The papers address important issues in Latin linguistics with a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. The first volume ("Word") contains texts concerning Latin phonology, etymology, flexion and derivation, and lexical semantics, both with respect to individual words and to entire word classes. Both diachronic and synchronic perspectives are employed in the discussion of the various issues. The second volume ("Clause and Discourse") includes papers dealing with issues of syntax and semantics, and with the structure of texts and pragmatic aspects. One of the subchapters, entitled "Conversation and Dialogue", contains papers presented at the conference in a separate workshop of the same name, linked by a common methodological framework of "Conversation Analysis". This book provides essential texts for researchers in the field of Latin linguistics and may also be of use to linguists who work primarily with other languages.
Linguistic Studies on Latin
The volume contains 26 articles (17 in English, 9 in French), selected from the papers presented at the 6th International Colloquim on Latin Linguistics, organized in Budapest. The authors share a common interest in applying to the study of Latin the conceptual framework of contemporary linguistics, mainly, but not exclusively, the theoretical tools of functional grammar and of the newest trends in pragmatics.
