En un context en què el turisme rural s'ha fet molt popular a Catalunya, aquest llibre es presenta com una guia de cases de turisme rural en què es descriuen excursions senzilles per fer des de cadascuna de les cases seleccionades. Es tracta, doncs, d'una guia diferent de les altres que recull un seguit d'excursions que poden ajudar a preparar un cap de setmana complet, i ofereix informació geogràfica i turística de les comarques i pobles on hi ha les cases, perquè el lector faci les caminades amb coneixement del context. La guia inclou l'Alt Empordà, la Garrotxa, el Ripollès, el Berguedà, la Cerdanya i el Solsonès.
