While living in Canada she goes for an appointment to a hospital. The physiotherapist that interviews her is wearing a pair of shiny and well cared for black leather shoes that transport her in a flashback to her native country El Salvador, torn by war, remembering the times since she was little and the images of her in a pair of black leather shoes and the events of the war she witnessed and survived trough. The flashback is ended by the strong odour of formaldehyde as she finds herself lost in the hospital.
