"Bill Culbert is one of New Zealand's most celebrated artists. Light is the material of his art, 'both object, and the means by which objects are prerceived'. In Bill Culbert : making light work, the first substantial monograph on the artist's work, writer and critic Ian Wedde explores the ideas, materials and conditions that have formed Culbert's art over the past fifty years." -- Book jacket.

Black Light celebrates the work of one of New Zealand's greatest artists, Ralph Hotere. Born in 1931 in the Te Aupouri community of Taikarawa in the northern Hokianga, Hotere has baffled commentators and awed viewers for more than forty years. In this book, which accompanied the exhibition Black Light, his paradoxical themes are explored by some of New Zealand's leading writers and critics, including Ian Wedde and Cilla McQueen. Also celebrated in Black Light is one of the most marvelous creative friendships of our time, between Ralph Hotere and the sculptor Bill Culbert. The book's title is partly homage to Bill Culbert's light genius. Black Light is the result of a partnership between the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, and the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, who together honour a great artist

LIGHT WINE THINGS is a book of remarkable photographs by Bill Culbert. Hard-covered, generously sized, and duotone throughout, the book reproduces all 100 photographs in the exhibition LIGHT WINE THINGS which was first shown at Millenium Public Art Gallery, Blenheim, with the support of Seresin Estate, and is currently being toured through New Zealand by Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The photographs trace the magical interaction of light, wine and things in places as various as Provence and Port Chalmers. They are discussed in an introductory essay, 'Light's Touch', by Dunedin Public Art Gallery curator Justin Paton. New Zealand-born and based in London and the south of France, Bill Culbert is one of New Zealand's foremost artists, well-known for his sculptures incorporating real light and for his collaborations with Ralph Hotere. His work was showcased in 1998 in the major touring survey Lightworks.
