People have the potential to heal themselves and each other. Dr. Daniel Benor, a wholistic psychiatrist, explains how mind-body and body-mind interactions promote health or cause illness. Clear and concise explanations of a large body of research, clinical examples, and a variety of theory explain healing through complementary/alternative medicine. Dr. Benor reviews research-supporting claims that complementary/alternative therapies and bioenergy therapies are potent and effective treatments.

Changing Attitudes Toward Alternative Medicine For years, doctors who have dared to practice alternative medicine have been called quacks but recently there has been a changing attitude toward alternatives that is driven mostly by health consumers. Increasingly, unconventional therapies are being shown to have a basis in science and medical professionals are waking up to the fact that it often requires a blend of different approaches to achieve clinical success. a pioneer in his field, Dr. W. Gene Schroeder has developed a patient-oriented holistic medical practice by thoroughly investigating and integrating a wide-range of alternative therapies. His book provides a record of his discoveries. Gentle, Effective Therapies This book covers: Healing practices that will help you stay healthy Subtle, invisible forces that play a role in consciousness and health Microcurrent technology that works on "untreatable" conditions Alternative therapies that provide a foundation in the field of holistic medicine Health issues that threaten our future including cancer and mercury/root canals Case studies about patients who have had medical breakthroughs

Death And Trauma

First published in 1997. Although the fields of thanatology and traumatology have received robust attention during their parallel development, little effort has been made to address their overlapping territory. This volume is the first attempt to do so. Specifically, the purpose of this book is fourfold. First is to provide a theoretical bridge between the two fields by providing conceptual terminology, such as defining normal versus dysfunctional bereavement and the meaning and range of death-related PTSD. The second confirms and illustrates the identical patterns of reactions between those who survive the death of a loved one and those who survive other traumatic events. Next the book applies the most useful theoretical models to the bereavement experience, and in turn acknowledges the utility of generalizing bereavement models to other traumatic experiences; in doing so, the two fields can enrich each other. Similarly, the volume's final purpose is to identify and apply the most useful and effective approaches in traumatology literature to the study, diagnosis and treatment of traumatic stressors other than death.

"Western Medicine", "Alternative Medicine", "Complementary Medicine", "Holistic Medicine", and "Natural Medicine." There is really only one "medicine" that heals and puts the whole patient, not the disease, at the center of care: Integrated Medicine. This practice integrates all modalities of healing to produce not merely a medical cure, but a deeper healing of the patient on his or her own terms. The Clinical Practice of Complementary, Alternative, and Western Medicine is a scientifically based text that informs and leads the practitioner easily through the maze of alternative therapies. Unlike other books that address the different alternative modalities, this text integrates homeopathy, a...

Science journalist Sally Adee breaks open the field of bioelectricity—the electric currents that run through our bodies and every living thing—its misunderstood history, and why new discoveries will lead to new ways around antibiotic resistance, cleared arteries, and new ways to combat cancer. You may be familiar with the idea of our body's biome: the bacterial fauna that populate our gut and can so profoundly affect our health. In We Are Electric we cross into new scientific understanding: discovering your body's electrome. Every cell in our bodies—bones, skin, nerves, muscle—has a voltage, like a tiny battery. It is the reason our brain can send signals to the rest of our body, how...
