The publication presents the results of the archxchange workshop, six teams of German and Russian architects (Blauraum, magma architecture, Philip Pishik, Team05, Team Russia and TransStructuraExpress) developed design proposals for transforming a factory area in Moscow into an interdisciplinary cultural centre. It will be accompanied by statements by well-known architects, urban planners and critics from both countries which add to the spectrum.

Architectural patronage was crucial for the thinking of Aby Warburg and his circle. In Hamburg the purpose-designed Kulturwissenschaftliche Bibliothek Warburg, completed in 1926, organized Warburg's remarkable library. From 1927 Warburg developed ideas about orientation in the radical transformation of a disused water tower into the Hamburg Planetarium. The interchange is a new form of transport building which integrates into a single whole various modes of public transport, putting the passenger first (rather than the infrastructure).
