Under the direction of the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers and in accordance with current jurisdictional mandates, the federal, provincial, and territorial governments have been co-operating on the establishment of the Canadian Wildlands Fire Strategy (CWFS). The CWFS will seek to balance the social, ecological, and economic aspects of wildland fire to deal with both the root causes and the symptoms of current and potential fire management issues. It is designed to facilitate the development and implementation of an innovative approach to wildland fire management in Canada that will foster resilient communities and an empowered public, develop healthy and productive forest ecosystems, and incorporate modern business practises. This report describes the current state of wildland fires and its management in Canada, a vision for a desired future state, and recommendations on how to initiate the necessary changes over the next ten years.

As in the past, future forest fire scenarios are impacted by climatic trends and changes in climatic extremes, as well as by anthropic pressure. It is to be expected that future trends, especially in the Mediterranean regions, will certainly lead to an increasing impact of human pressure on the natural environment, due to increases in tourism and to the enlargement of urban residential areas invading the countryside. The British Columbia Forest Service (BCFS) and the Canadian Forest Service (CFS) have a long history of collaboration across a wide range of functions and topics. This includes research, technology transfer and extension, co-management and delivery of federal-provincial agreements, and partnering on national and international initiatives. As the BCFS approaches its centennial, it is interesting to examine the achievements that have come from this 100-year relationship. The nature of the various projects and initiatives undertaken over the years reflects the evolving nature of forest management, and the relative strengths of the CFS and BCFS have contributed to successful outcomes in many collaborative initiatives. Looking forward, we believe a continuation of CFS-BCFS partnering will benefit both institutions, and will help ensure management of BC's forests continues to balance the multiple needs of current and future generations.
This volume represents the proceedings of the 3rd Eurasian Conference on Educational Innovation 2020 (ECEI 2020). Thes conference is organized by the International Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Invention (IIKII), and was held on February 5-7, 2020 in Hanoi, Vietnam.ECEI 2020 provides a unified communication platform for researchers in a range of topics in education innovation and other related fields. This proceedings volume enables interdisciplinary collaboration of science and engineering technologists. It is a fine starting point for establishing an international network in the academic and industrial fields.
In September 2004, the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers established a federal, provincial, and territorial task group of assistant deputy ministers (ADMs) and commissioned the development of the Canadian wildland fire strategy (CWFS). The group was directed to assess the current state of wildland fire management in Canada, examine the key influences and trends, and identify possible desired future states and how they could be achieved. This publication comprises a collection of nine reports written by the CWFS Core Team members and their associates. Collectively these papers include syntheses, analyses, and perspective articles that address a variety of the social, economic, and biophysical aspects of wildland fire and its management as well as policy, science, and operational issues in Canada. It is intended to serve as a companion document to the CWFS Vision for those interested in further exploring the rationale behind the CWFS and its key initiatives. It also has potential application for use by those seeking new funding to implement initiatives under the CWFS.
