Frida Kahlo is the most famous Latin-American painter of the 20th century and a fundamental figure in Mexican art. She met Pablo Picasso and André Bretón; she was a friend of Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and of poet Pablo Neruda. She received writers, artists, film directors, doctors, politicians, and photographers at her home.
