El lèxic català dins la Romània
Partint de la polèmica al voltant de la subagrupació romànica del català i procurant superar-la, Germà Colón analitza el nostre lèxic des de diverses perspectives, confirma la seua vinculació al diasistema gàl·lic, to tenint en compte els elements constitutius, les afinitats i les discrepància amb l'aragonès i l'occità, i explica les causes històriques i d'evolució interna que han donat al català la seua fisonomia lèxica al sí de la Romània. La sèrie de qüestions ací plantejades prova que l'estudi atent del nostre cabal lexical és un aspecte prioritari de la lingüística neollatina, el qual ajuda a comprendre molts problemes d'abast general europeu.

The multiplicity of parallel identities that make up our personalities is a phenomenon in which our individual identitary choices merge with diverse collective identities. The present volume is a contribution to the field of Identity Studies, but from a clearly linguistic perspective. It unites several contributions which analyze discourses centered on national or regional identities – as for instance the Catalanity of the frontier city of Lleida, the connection between the natural environment and the conceptualization of deictic space, or the dialectics between center and periphery. Other chapters try to shed light on problems arising from the particular situation of Catalan as a non-state language. The contributions thus range from aspects of Cultural Studies on identities and their constituting discourses to Catalan linguistics and sociolinguistics.

Caterina Albert i Paradís predates Federico García Lorca and D. H. Lawrence in her portrayal of women's sexual passions. She was an unsung pioneer of modernist literature at the beginning of the twentieth century, writing in the ancient Catalan language of Spain. Published under the nationalist (and necessarily male) pseudonym of Víctor Català, Solitude is regarded as the most important Catalan novel to appear before the Spanish Civil War.
