The Descendants of Christian Augspurger
Christian Augspurger was born in 1782 in St. Marie, Lorraine, France. He married Katharina Hauter in 1805 in Ixheim, France. He died in 1847 in Woodsdale, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Ohio and Iowa.

He also follows them intellectually, from a strict to a broader interpretation of religious doctrine in the 1870s, which led to a schism within the already small Mennonite community; from a longstanding position on pacifism and conscientious objection to some questioning of this stance during World War II.
