Human Interaction with Machines
The International Workshop on “Human Interaction with Machines” is the sixth in a successful series of workshops that were established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Technische Universität Berlin. The goal of those workshops is to bring together researchers from both universities in order to present research results to an international community. The series of workshops started in 1990 with the International Workshop on “Artificial Intelligence” and was continued with the International Workshop on “Advanced Software Technology” in 1994. Both workshops have been hosted by Shanghai Jiaotong University. In 1998 the third wo- shop took place in Berlin. This International Workshop on “Communi- tion Based Systems” was essentially based on results from the Graduiertenkolleg on Communication Based Systems that was funded by the German Research Society (DFG) from 1991 to 2000. The fourth Int- national Workshop on “Robotics and its Applications” was held in Sha- hai in 2000. The fifth International Workshop on “The Internet Challenge: Technology and Applications” was hosted by TU Berlin in 2002.

Zu Beginn wird eine kurze Einführung in die Thematik der LBOs gegeben bevor bereits existierende Forschungsergebnisse besprochen werden. Daran anschließend wird eine ausführliche empirische Untersuchung durchgeführt (Logit Regression) mit dem Ziel, identifizierte Einflussfaktoren auf die Erfolgswahrscheinlichkeit eines LBO statistisch signifikant nachzuweisen. Dabei werden zu untersuchende Variablen zunächst definiert und Hypothesen logisch hergeleitet, bevor im Anschluss die Ergebnisse der Regressionen präsentiert werden. Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse zusammengefasst und ein Ausblick formuliert.

Repair the World
Talk of repair has become ubiquitous in recent years. In the age of trauma culture, art and literature have a new purpose: to do justice, to console, comfort, and heal. Drawing on works of twenty-first-century French-language literature, this monograph shows how literature can not only serve as a means of "personal development", but expand our capacity for empathy, help repair the "brokenness" implied in victimhood, and redress individual and collective traumas. Centered on a critical reflection on discourses of repair (and reparations), it questions the canonical theories on the functions of literature and proposes a new way of writing (and reading) literary history.
AI*IA 2007: Artificial Intelligence and Human-Oriented Computing
Annotation This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th Congress of the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence, AI*IA 2007, held in Rome, Italy, in September 2007. The 42 revised full papers presented together with 14 revised poster papers and 3 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on knowledge representation and reasoning, multiagent systems, distributed AIai, knowledge engineering, ontologies and the semantic Web, machine learning, natural language processing, information retrieval and extraction, planning and scheduling, AI and applications.
