Nineteenth-Century Emigration of "Old Lutherans" from Eastern Germany (Mainly Pomerania and Lower Silesia) to Australia, Canada, and the United States

As Mr. Smith has noted in the Introduction to this work, "There is little so rare in German-American genealogy as a complete emigrant passenger list from Bremen." As most researchers know, the Bremen lists were destroyed during the fire storm of that city during World War II. In the case of this work, however, Mr. Smith was able to recover fourteen Bremen lists because they had been reprinted in the obscure weekly newspaper from Rudolstadt, Thuringia, entitled the "Allgemeine Auswanderungs-Zeitung" (which can be found in the rare-book collection at Yale University). The compiler has transcribed the names of all persons bound for America from each of the fourteen lists. The emigrants, who are arranged alphabetically, are identified by place of origin and sometimes by the number of persons in the passenger's family or the names of traveling companions.

What Wondrous Love

"What Wondrous Love delves into the controversial topic of unconditional love, examining the history of the concept, its infiltration into the theology of the church, and its dangerous effects. Although some may feel that author David Thiele downplays God's love, in reality he points readers to a truer understanding of God's love and His nature as revealed in Scripture and expounded upon in the Spirit of Prophecy, reminding all that Jesus came to this world to fulfill every condition of the righteous law of love. In so doing, we are granted the opportunity to overcome sin as Christ did and be reunited with our heavenly Father when Christ returns - What Wondrous Love, indeed!"--Page 4 of cover.

International Sales Agreements

Compared to domestic transactions, the risks associated with international sales are greatly multiplied. It is a rare international sales agreement to rely on minor variations of standard terms, as is so often the case in domestic agreements. Foreign laws, export/import and currency exchange controls, treaties, transit issues, inspection of goods, insurance, tariffs – all these and more – must be taken into account in contract negotiations. This is the third edition of an enormously useful book that guides practitioners through the process of drawing up sound agreements for the international sale of goods. Organized according to the framework of an annotated agreement, with detailed comm...
