The latest update to DRI's seminal publication, Product Liability Defenses, is a concise, practice-oriented compilation and discussion of the law of product liability and the various defenses that can be raised to products actions in each state and other jurisdictions. Each chapter is written by top lawyers with deep experience defending product liability actions. The compendium describes and analyzes the various statutes and judicial decisions that govern product liability in each jurisdiction. In addition to traditional product liability defenses, the book analyzes such timely topics as qualification of expert witnesses, spoliation of evidence, joint liability and punitive damages, the impact of the Third Restatement of Torts; Products Liability, and matters of pleading and procedure. As with previous editions, the 2014 edition of the compendium is an indispensable companion for any lawyer called upon to defend a product liability action. It is an especially valuable reference for those representing manufacturers whose products are distributed in many states and foreign nations.

Born to Run

A New York Times bestseller 'A sensation ... a rollicking tale well told' - The Times At the heart of Born to Run lies a mysterious tribe of Mexican Indians, the Tarahumara, who live quietly in canyons and are reputed to be the best distance runners in the world; in 1993, one of them, aged 57, came first in a prestigious 100-mile race wearing a toga and sandals. A small group of the world's top ultra-runners (and the awe-inspiring author) make the treacherous journey into the canyons to try to learn the tribe's secrets and then take them on over a course 50 miles long. With incredible energy and smart observation, McDougall tells this story while asking what the secrets are to being an incredible runner. Travelling to labs at Harvard, Nike, and elsewhere, he comes across an incredible cast of characters, including the woman who recently broke the world record for 100 miles and for her encore ran a 2:50 marathon in a bikini, pausing to down a beer at the 20 mile mark.

Christopher Newport University

Opened in 1961 as an extension of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, Christopher Newport University (CNU) had humble origins in an abandoned downtown Newport News public school. Located in historic Hampton Roads, the institution was named for the 17th-century English mariner who helped establish the Jamestown colony. Now Virginia's youngest public university, Christopher Newport is a thriving educational institution with small class sizes, dedicated faculty, and world-class facilities. CNU's modern mission is to educate leaders for the 21st century, and it has quickly become a university of choice for students throughout Virginia and beyond. This unique volume, containing more than 200 photographs, is the first comprehensive look at CNU's history ever published. It chronicles the institution's dramatic story using images from the university's archives, published sources, and private collections.

The winners and finalists are spotlighted in the front of the book. The anthology is the first in an annual series published by Southeast Missouri State University Press in cooperation with the Missouri Humanities Council's Veterans Projects and the Warriors Arts Alliance.
