Christopher Muller

As far from "the decisive moment" as a photographer could be, Christopher Muller does not discover his interiors and still life photographs, rather he composes them with considerable forethought, even drafting them in numerous preparatory drawings. This volume reproduces nearly 150 of Muller's color photographs, which must rank among the most crafted images being made today.

Journey’s End is the story of a remarkable man, George Wells of Nebraska, an Orphan Train Rider. Readers first met him as the hero of Train To Red Cloud, A Small Boy’s Journey. In these pages meet him as the author did… through personal letters, anecdotes from friends and neighbors who knew him, and the author’s sentimental journey to Red Cloud to trace his steps. The train that brought him to Red Cloud was not the end, but the beginning, of a joyous journey through life.

Christopher Muller: Easy Tools

Christopher Muller, who has held a chair in fine art photography at Folkwang University since 2009, has been one of the most unusual protagonists of the photography scene in the Rhineland since the mid/late 1990s. Having been awarded art prizes, for instance, by the Kunstfonds Bonn in 1995 and the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation in 2004, the artist, who grew up in London, trained at Camberwell College of Arts & Craft and the Slade School of Fine Art in London, and finally graduated from the Kunstakademie in Dü sseldorf, made his mark on the scene. He has always had a different approach from that of his colleagues. His background is in still life, and it was precisely within this field that he caused a sensation in the 1990s with his serial-like photographs of objects. His recent series of photographic collages, as well as his noticeably expanding use of watercolor techniques, address the relationship between things just as much as our view of them. The images clearly show that the viewers are involved in a complex web of feelings, likes and dislikes, which are in turn also determined by their expectations and actions in everyday life.

"The Leader of Managers is all about the breadth of challenges, risks, possibilities, and opportunities involved in leading the people who manage complex restaurant and retail enterprises. Multi-unit managers are the same professional knowledge workers Peter Drucker originally referred to as the "managers of managers" but the market has changed dramatically since his day. So has the complexity of these positions. Today we see multi-unit managers as leaders of managers. Applying the principles presented here, business owners, senior company executives, and multi-unit managers will be able to learn about, adopt and then master the keys to this sophisticated new role"--Page 4 of cover.
