The Effects of Trade Liberalization on US Clothing Imports
The textile and clothing industry was the only industry sanctioned by the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) to have quotas and other barriers to trade under the Multi-Fibre Arrangement (MFA). From 1995 to 2005, the MFA was phased out under the stipulations of the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC), effectively liberalizing the industry and bringing it under World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.
