The CRF Signal

"Information molecules such as corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) are ancient and widely distributed across diverse organs. The scientific community is beginning to realize that CRF is a dynamic and diversely widespread peptide hormone (e.g. placenta) with many functions (parturtion, metamorphosis, circadian rhythmicity) beyond acting as a releasing factor in the brain. Indeed, CRF has been associated with a range of states of the brain, including fear and anxiety, social contact, and incentive salence and addiction. Examining the evolutionary origins of CRF, its diverse endocrine and neural functions, this book provides insights into CRF that will be of interest to students and researchers in the biological, medical and behavioral sciences."--Page 4 of cover.

Neuropsychopharmacology

Thoroughly updated and completely reorganized for a sharper clinical focus, the Fifth Edition of this world-renowned classic synthesizes the latest advances in basic neurobiology, biological psychiatry, and clinical neuropsychopharmacology. The book establishes a critical bridge connecting new discoveries in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and neuroimaging with the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of all neuropsychiatric disorders. Nine sections focus on specific groups of disorders, covering clinical course, genetics, neurobiology, neuroimaging, and current and emerging therapeutics. Four sections cover neurotransmitter and signal transduction, emerging methods in molecular biology and genetics, emerging imaging technologies and their psychiatric applications, and drug discovery and evaluation. Summary : In 2006, all 41 Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) submitted their greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories. Twenty-five inventories were submitted by the deadline of 15 April and most of the submissions (37 of 41) contained a national inventory period.

Summary : The quality and timing of submissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories by Parties included in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties) has further improved in 2004. All but two Annex I Parties provided an inventory in 2004, and only a few Parties made submissions that were late and/or incomplete. The total aggregate GHG emissions for Annex I Parties as a whole declined by 6.3 per cent between 1990 and 2002; total aggregate emissions for Annex I Parties with economies in transition decreased by 40 per cent; and emissions from the other Annex I Parties increased by 8.4 per cent. The Conference of the Parties and its subsidiary bodies may wish to consider the information contained in this document and provide guidance to Parties and secretariat.
